Jim Allen another great DJ on The Mighty 690, WVOK, from 1961 until 1966. After leaving WVOK, Mr. Allen became a successful
concert promoter. In addition, he appeared on the Tonight Show and many other entertainment shows. He gained fame among the
celebrity ranks as a great interviewer and conducted many for Dick Clark Productions over the years. He was also the voice
of Meienke Mufflers and Delta Airlines for several years. His accomplishments are legendary in advertising and the early days
of radio subscription services - just prior to the Casey Kasem era. He did many commercials for AT 40 and many other canned
programs. He was a staff announcer for NBC for a few months. For those of you who knew Mr. Allen, knows he was truly a gift

This photo was taken at Dixie Speedway, Bessemer, Alabama around 1961. Most likely Jim was the announcer that night and for
several years the laughter wafted throughout the stands with every display of his dry wit and sparkling charm.
